Matenadaran has once again brought together in Yerevan the entire international potential of Modern Armenian Studies, dedicating the congress to the 350th anniversary of one of the most prominent Armenian scholars, Mkhitar Sebastatsi. Not only the Mekhitarist monks, but also the heads of the Armenian studies departments of famous Armenian centers and prestigious universities around the world have a highly representative participation in the congress. The agenda of the three-day congress includes the most diverse topics of scientific reports, from the overview of the civilizational heritage of the Mekhitarists to the prospects for the development of digital Armenian studies. The reports once again emphasize the exceptionally great contribution that the Mekhitarist monastery has made to the national written culture, creating scientific general and branch dictionaries, translation, religious historical, linguistic, natural science, economic and various other works. By tradition, the Matenadaran presents its manuscript additions under the title “One Year of Eternity,” showcasing the unique manuscripts acquired as a result of the manuscripts’ homecoming campaign. Over the past three years alone, 115 manuscripts have been brought to the Matenadaran with the support of benefactors and the state, including the commentary on the Catholicos’ Letters of Sargis Shnorhali, acquired with the support of the government, which is an exceptionally valuable manuscript.
