Erebuni Castle was excavated by an Armenian-French expedition, and then studied for almost two decades. During the cleaning work, archaeologists discovered previously unknown cultural layers, proving that Erebuni Hill was a place of human activity long before Argishti. Materials were found that relate to the Middle Bronze Age and the Early Bronze Age, that is, there are traces of human activity here that relate to a period that is about 1,000 years older than the castle built by Argishti.
