During these days of July, Armenians living in America from different states and cities gather with their families and national school groups at the stadiums of Birmingham High School in Los Angeles to participate in the traditional Navasardyan Games. The competition is in a variety of sports, from football to basketball, tennis, athletics, and running. In pursuit of victory, Armenians come here from even the smallest communities in the states. Everyone from the organizers of the Navasart Games to the fans admit that they have long been participating in this sporting event as a large-scale, joyful and warm gathering of Armenians, to see and speak their native language with relatives, whom they often do not meet even when they are in the same state, as well as to make new friends and connections. For our compatriots living far from Armenia, these games become another opportunity not to be cut off from their national roots, not to forget the language.
