Ptghnavank is being restored.

At the end of the sixth century, the beginning of the seventh century, Prince Manuel Amatuni built a large domed basilica temple in the center of a vast archaeological site in Ptghni, similar to the Aruch Church. Centuries later, only the northern wall, the eastern part of the southern wall, and the eastern dome-bearing arch connecting them have survived from Ptghnavank. Ptghnavank has always been among the monuments subject to urgent restoration by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. It has been delayed due to the complexity of the work. But restoration work has finally begun since last year. The community is eagerly awaiting the completion of the church’s renovation and restoration work, and with such an architectural masterpiece, it would certainly be great if it could also begin to function in its spiritual nature. The end of this phase of the project is in 2028.
