Vanadzor is preparing for events marking the 35th anniversary of Independence.

Active preparatory work is underway in the administrative center of the Lori region; a stage is being set up, and sound and lighting equipment is being tested. A major celebratory concert will take place in Hayk Square on September 18. The Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Italian conductor Gianluca Marcianò, will present symphonic rock and symphonic folk programs. The state has implemented a number of large-scale cultural projects in the regions. The staff of the Lori Regional Governor is sparing no effort to organize the Independence Day festivities to a high standard. Events will also be held in various communities across the region. This occasion offers a unique opportunity to revitalize cultural life in Vanadzor. A concert of this scale has never before been organized in Vanadzor since independence; a total of 95 million drams is being invested, funded entirely by the government. In addition to Vanadzor, festive events dedicated to the 35th anniversary of independence will also be held in Ijevan, Kapan, and Gyumri. The grand finale will be the major celebratory concert on September 21 at Republic Square in Yerevan.
