Glendale's new police chief is Armenian.

Robert William is Glendale's new and first Armenian police chief. The City Council approved his candidacy a few days ago, appointing him to head a service with 14 departments, various divisions, about 500 employees and a budget of more than $150 million. Glendale's 21st police chief was born in Iran. At a very young age, his family moved to Armenia, lived in the city of Masis, from where they left for the United States, California, in the 90s. Because of his last name, William, some suspect that he is Armenian, but he proudly states that his father is Assyrian and his mother is Armenian. Robert William has 24 years of work experience in the Glendale police department. He was recruited as a cadet at the age of 18, then rose through the ranks.
