The Amberd Citadel Castle is being restored.

The work on the fortification of the Amberd Citadel began in 2024. The state will allocate more than 470 million drams for this purpose. Due to the complexity of the professional work on the site, the work will continue for another three years. The budget for this year's work is 75 million drams. Since the castle was three-story, after the restoration of the fortifications from the inside is completed, infrastructure will be built in accordance with the logic of certain tourist routes so that tourists can more conveniently walk inside the castle and see all the beauty. The work on cleaning the ruins of large fallen stones is being carried out under the supervision of an archaeologist. Excavations are also being carried out depending on the situation. Amberd will operate actively during the construction works this season, but access to the castle will be partially limited for security reasons.
