Valuable finds from the Yervandashat excavation site.

Excavations at the Yervandashat excavation site, dating back to the third to first centuries BC, are being carried out by the joint efforts of the "Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography" and the "National Organization for Land and Culture". Due to its location in the border zone, it has not been possible to precisely locate the Yervandashat excavation site for years. In 2005, however, archaeologist Felix Ter-Martirosov managed to precisely locate the historical monument, after which regular excavations began. Each cultural layer has something new to say about the last capital of the Yervanduni kingdom. The area was characterized as a hunting palace of King Yervand built in the forest of his birthplace, as the historian Khorenatsi emphasizes about Yervand's construction activities. Geophysicists have measured, mapped, and clarified geodetic data for about 20 hectares. They have recorded traces of numerous buildings with architectural solutions, streets, and cultural layers that exactly and accurately match the monument being excavated.
