The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports notes that a competition of ideas has been announced. The fact of the existence of an old city in the heart of Yerevan became apparent 23 years ago during the improvement works of the Republic Square. The government intends to turn the ancient site into a museum, providing access to the history museum from the “Republic Square” station of the Yerevan metro through the roads of the old settlement. After 100 years, the issue of modernization of the development of the main square of the republic is on the agenda. The centenary of the start of construction of the country’s main square is included in the UNESCO calendar of famous people and important events for 2026-2027.
